Forgot to mention

The guy who pushed me allin had 55 against my pair of tens :-(

Ugggghhhhhhhh!

Got my stack up to about 7k when the disgusting bust hand came. I was on the button, blinds 200/400, ante 50, one limper around to me, I raised to 1500, big blind pushed me allin preflop, I called and the prick spiked the two outer 5 on the river to send me to the rail.

All you can do is get it in when you're ahead and I was here by a mile. Would have had above average stack with 700 of the 2300 still playing but it wasn't meant to be.

Off to meet the guys and drown my sorrow at Nobu!

Wish I had a better story to tell, but that's the way it goes. Until next year, Poker Hack out.

Heading into level 5 still alive

Interesting last 2 hrs of play. Couple key hands and a brutal mistake. The field for this tourney is 2628 and first place is a bracelet and $680k!

I was sitting OK in lev4 blinds 100/200 on big blind. Folded around to small blind who was shortstacked, he completed and I allowed the limp with Ad, 2c, flop came Ac,Jc,5c. He checked and I led out for 400, he pushed allin for an additional 2000. I figured he had a club but not 2 so I called. He tabled 9c3c and I was drawing dead.

Battled back taking out another short stack with my AK vs his AJ. Then doubled up on big blind with AQ when button raised into me with AJ. I reraised allin and he called and boom, up to 6000!

Last hand of round in mid position I found JJ, raised to 800, got reraised and the raised again. I folded and the two players had AA and KK - phew!

Heading into round 5 with 5200 chips, blinds going up to 200/400 with 50 ante. Will need some help from the poker gods to make the next break.

Mission 1 Accomplished

Great, made it to the first break!! Have 4500 chips, we started with 3000, happy with the 50 percent ROI. No real interesting hands to speak of in the first 2 hours except a couple early possition small pocket pair mucks that would have flopped sets and an AQs that I limped under the gun, mid position raise, re-raise by the button and I folder. Almost puked when the flop came up Ks, Js, 4s. But I had a plan and you can't get upset at doing the right lay downs out of position.

On a side note, I have to pee worse then I've ever had to and the lineups for the washrooms are brutal and with no bushes in this city of concrete and desert, I'm just going to have to tough it out.

Jason busted out unfortunately and I have no idea where LeVant is at. Blinds are going up to 100/200 now so still in good shape with over 20 big blind stack. Hopefully I can make something happen in the next session.

Good morning

Yaaaawwwwn. As I rub the sleep from my eyes I am feeling proud of myself. Firstly, I did not play one hand of blackjack, did not roll the dice even once, and I was actually asleep last night by 12:30 (OK, that's really 3:30 EST), but with the group I had in this town that never sleeps that's pretty good. Can't remember the last 9 hour sleep I had so I feel like a million bucks, maybe the million I'm about to win in this tournament! After a shower, $50 room service breakfast, I'm off the the Rio to go for it!

Arrived, registered, ready to go

Travel went smooth this year, no frantic Amazing Race journey to get here like last year. Plane ride was fun, we all sat together which was nice. Because I don't trust my memory I make a list before travelling: US cash, passport, camera, blackberry charger, laptop power chord, etc. Too bad i always forget to read the note though. Forgot my laptop charger - which is probably a good thing anyway!

Went to the Rio to register for the tourney, the lines were sick. You would think they'd have this figured out by now. Between travel, hotel checkin and registration, I figured I spent at least 2-3 hours in lines today, but who am I to comlpain. Nancy, you rock!

Both Jason and Le Vant are joining me in the tournament tomorrow. I very excite!

I'm so excited to play in my 2nd World Series of Poker. We leave tomorrow morning early with a great group: Aaron, Jason, Peter, Lewis, Darren, Kevin and Neil are all heading down this year. Only Jason is playing in the event, which is Event #15, a $1500 No-limit holdem tourney for a WSOP bracelet and probably $1 MM for first. Aaron is staking both Jason and I for one third, and me and Jason are taking 1/3 of each others action, so I'm in for $1000 and get 1/3 of my action and 1/3 of Jason's.

This year I feel way less pressure for the following reasons:
1. Been there, done that
2. If I bust I have a great group of guys to spend time with in Las Vegas

Last year I was solo and it effected my play. I'm playing against a field that consider the buyin irrelevant, and time is of no importance. If they bust they can play in another event the next day which gives them much more freedom to gamble and chase draws.

This year as I head off for the tourney my game is probably a bit rusty as I have not played online at all since December. I don't miss it one bit and think the rust will help my game as it will force me to not get cute. My strategy is to take it one level at a time. You only start with 3000 chips which doesn't allow too much room for moves. Basically if you get a hand you have to play it very aggressively and don't be affraid to throw it all in. If I get the opportunity to play in day 2 I will definitely open up and go for it.

Please comment as much as you want, I get emailed immedietly when you do and really enjoy it!

Be back with you soon!
Rob
